What is rhinoplasty?

Who is a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

If you’re over the age of 18, in generally good health, and unhappy about the size or shape of your nose, you could be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. During your consultation, Dr. Fodero wants to see that you have realistic expectations about the procedure and that you can dedicate sufficient time for recovery.

Dr. Fodero also provides rhinoplasty procedures to repair or reconstruct your nose after facial trauma. He also performs revision rhinoplasty if you’re unsatisfied with the results of a previous nose job.

What happens during a rhinoplasty procedure?

Rhinoplasty is Dr. Fodero’s specialty area, so you are in expert hands before, during, and after your surgery. Dr. Fodero begins your rhinoplasty by giving you a general anesthetic, so you sleep comfortably throughout your surgery. Then, depending on if you have an open or closed procedure, he either makes incisions around or in your nose.

He uses special surgical tools to reshape the bone and cartilage of your nose and then re-drapes your skin. Finally, he trims away any excess skin and closes any incisions with sutures.

What should I expect when recovering from rhinoplasty?

Dr. Fodero provides personalized aftercare instructions following your rhinoplasty for a safe and rapid recovery. You will need to take time off while your nose heals and any surgical bruising and swelling subside. Dr. Fodero suggests keeping your head elevated and applying cold packs to reduce your swelling.
