Ethnic Rhinoplasty: Nose Surgery for Different Ethnicities – Florham Park, NJ

The characteristics that make our noses wonderfully unique are largely due to our diverse ethnic backgrounds. But is it possible to correct what you deem a displeasing part of the nose without compromising your cultural integrity? With ethnic rhinoplasty at Northeastern Plastic Surgery in New Jersey, the answer is a resounding “yes.”

Joseph P. Fodero, M.D., comprehends the special needs of every patient. Having dedicated much of his career to rhinoplasty, he embraces the anatomical differences among cultures that may appear in the nose, taking them into account while determining the strategy for surgery. People with non-Caucasian noses can achieve remarkably natural-looking cosmetic results, thanks to Dr. Fodero’s proven ability to perform successful ethnic rhinoplasty in New Jersey.

  • Ethnic Rhinoplasty Candidates
  • The Ethnic Rhinoplasty Procedure

Strong candidates for ethnic rhinoplasty are those of non-Caucasian descent, such as African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians, who exhibit nasal features typical of their ethnicity. Such characteristics of the nose may include wider bases, thicker skin, more bulbous tips, wide or flat bridges, or a “bump” in the ridge.

For all rhinoplasty procedures, Dr. Fodero expects ideal candidates to be in good health—both emotionally and physically—and he will conduct a review of your medical history. Females should be at least fifteen years of age; male candidates should be at least sixteen years old.

Most of Dr. Fodero’s ethnic rhinoplasty surgeries are performed at St. Barnabas Hospital in New Jersey. Like most other nose jobs, the procedure is aimed at reshaping the nose by altering the bone and cartilage to a degree. Similarly, the manner in which Dr. Fodero proceeds in the operating room will depend on your individual needs as well as the scope of your surgery.

For more than a decade, our doctor has specialized in rhinoplasty, placing focus on the anatomical differences apparent in noses of diverse ethnicities. Your procedure will thus depend on your uniquely designed treatment plan; Dr. Fodero will walk you through the surgical techniques he employs for ethnic rhinoplasty as part of your consultation.
