Non-Invasive Facial Rejuvenation Services in NJ

NON-INVASIVE FACIAL REJUVENATION OPTIONS

Not all methods of facial rejuvenation are surgical. Though invasive procedures such as face lift and brow lift can be highly effective in giving patients a more youthful appearance, non-surgical skin care treatments are often all a patient needs to meet his or her aesthetic goals. Dr. Joseph Fodero offers numerous non-surgical options, including microdermabrasion and skin peel treatments, at his New Jersey cosmetic surgery practice to give patients a non-invasive way to restore youth to their facial aesthetics.

  • Microdermabrasion
  • Dermabrasion
  • Glycolic Skin Peels
  • TCA Skin Peels

MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion, available at our Florham Park, New Jersey practice, is a non-surgical skin care and rejuvenation treatment that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by gently exfoliating the outer layers of dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion is also useful in correcting pigment discoloration, reducing the frequency and severity of acne breakouts, and refining and clearing the pores. The microdermabrasion treatment is an excellent way to make the skin look smooth, healthy, and radiant.

Microdermabrasion utilizes a controlled spray of micro-crystals applied and simultaneously vacuumed across the surface of the skin. The micro-crystals remove dulling debris and skin cells from the top layer of the skin. Microdermabrasion also stimulates collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin.

The microdermabrasion treatment can be helpful for patients with a wide variety of skin conditions, including:

  • Dryness and roughness
  • Blocked pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Uneven pigmentation

There is virtually no discomfort or downtime associated with the microdermabrasion treatment. For some patients, their skin may appear pink or feel slightly tender following the treatment session. However, these side effects generally subside quickly.

DERMABRASION

Like microdermabrasion, the dermabrasion treatment can help patients improve the appearance of dull, rough, blemished skin. Though similar to microdermabrasion, dermabrasion can be used to treat the deeper wrinkles, scars, and other imperfections that microdermabrasion can’t.

During the dermabrasion treatment, the dermis (top layer) of the skin is resurfaced by a spinning instrument that acts much like a wheel. The instrument polishes the skin, exposing the layer of fresh, undamaged skin that lies beneath the dermis. Dermabrasion typically takes between 15 minutes and an hour to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area and the extent of the skin damage that is being treated.

GLYCOLIC SKIN PEELS

Glycolic skin peel treatments at our Florham Park, New Jersey plastic surgery practice are an excellent way for patients to improve the appearance and texture of their skin. It is a treatment that is considered more intense than other skin care options such as microdermabrasion, and can generally treat skin imperfections found deeper in the skin.

The main ingredient in glycolic skin peels – alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) – helps to exfoliate dead cells that dull the appearance of the skin, resulting in skin that is clearer and smoother. By exfoliating the top layer, wrinkles and fine lines become less noticeable, giving the skin a younger, revitalized appearance. AHA also provides extra hydration to the skin and encourages elastin and collagen production, resulting in skin that not only looks better, but is also healthier.

The glycolic skin peel is typically performed over a series of treatment sessions, though most patients will notice a difference after just one treatment. Some patients may experience mild tingling or stinging when the glycolic acid is first applied; otherwise, the glycolic skin peel treatment is relatively painless.

TCA SKIN PEELS

Sometimes, Dr. Fodero will recommend a skin peel treatment that can penetrate the skin slightly deeper than a light chemical peel, such as the glycolic acid peel. TCA, or trichloroacetic acidskin peelsoffer an even stronger alternative when other treatments are ineffective in treating certain skin imperfections. The TCA solution removes the damaged outer layers of skin that contribute to a dull, aged appearance. In doing so, the treatment diminishes the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and even acne.

Each TCA skin peel is formulated uniquely for each patient’s unique needs. Like other chemical skin care treatments, the TCA skin peel produces the best results when performed over a series of sessions.
