Post-Op Recovery Tips
Recovering after plastic surgery requires patience. There are a few things you can do to ease your recovery process.
- Change your diet. It is very important to change your diet during the recovery process. Certain foods will delay the process, so be sure to avoid them. This includes salt, Gatorade, and sugar. Increasing protein will help with your healing process and will prevent hair loss. You should eat small amounts of food, spread out throughout the day. Eat probiotic food as antibiotics destroy good bacteria.
- Get moving. While you may be tired in the first few days after your plastic surgery, it is important to resume your daily activities. Walk around at a normal pace, you should not elevate your heart rate.
- Dress properly. After your surgery, you should wear comfortable clothing. Wear a tank top underneath your compression garment for extra comfort. Do not wear tight clothing. If your doctor told you that you will need a compression garment, purchase two. That way, you can wear one while you are washing the other.
- Stretch. Stretching a few weeks after surgery can help you feel better.
- Take care of your scar. Properly taking care of your scar is key to keeping infections at bay. Using ointments can help minimize the appearance of your scars. You should also be wearing sunscreen to prevent swelling and discoloration.
