Incorporating Botox into Your Regular Beauty Routine

Botox® doesn’t involve quite the hassle that it did previously. When you consider that Botox has been the subject of research for over 100 years, that should come as no surprise. How convenient is today’s Botox? Most appointments take only about 10 minutes to complete. So it’s entirely doable to maintain regular Botox injections.

Convenience aside, there are a number of benefits that come from incorporating Botox into your regular beauty routine. That’s why Dr. Joseph Fodero and our team here at Northeastern Plastic Surgery in Florham Park, New Jersey, have compiled this guide to help you learn more about the benefits of Botox.

Botox helps keep you looking young

By getting regular Botox injections, you’re not only treating facial wrinkles and creases, but you’re also using it as a preventive measure, keeping future wrinkles from becoming visible.

It’s a common myth that Botox freezes your face. Instead, Botox works by enhancing the muscles in your face. It’s injected into specific muscles to keep them from pulling on your skin and giving you signs of age like fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet.

Botox promotes wellness

Botox isn’t just great for your appearance; it can also benefit your health. Botox is the most prescribed brand for treating and even preventing migraines. Botox can also help treat teeth grinding, jaw clenching, and excessive sweating. The benefits of Botox go well past the cosmetic.

Botox is growing in popularity

Botox has become so quick, convenient, and effective that there’s been a 22% uptick in Botox treatments since 2013 alone. Botox is safe — it’s FDA-approved — and the effects of Botox are quite lasting. Each appointment leaves you good for 3-4 months, so you probably won’t need to make more than a few appointments every year.

Getting ready for your Botox appointment

Before getting Botox treatment, be prepared to discuss your medical history and any medications you’re taking. We ask that you discontinue some medications before your appointment, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), blood thinners, muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, and some vitamins and supplements.

We also ask that you avoid smoking for a few days before your appointment, to limit your risk of bruising and bleeding. We also encourage you to relax and try to take it easy, particularly when it comes to working out. You do need to wait at least four hours after your treatment to engage in any physical activity.
