CUTTING THE FAT
What Can You Expect When Having Liposuction Surgery?
Let’s face it; the majority of society has fat in certain places that they wish that they could get rid of for a variety of reasons. While some people will stay on the road of being dedicated to working out as a means to try and get rid of the extra fat, many others have been trying to work out or diet for a long time and just want to focus on expelling the fat from a certain part of their body. In cases such as these, a person may opt to explore and proceed with liposuction surgery.
Any time any person has any type of surgery it can be scary. However, due to improved techniques throughout the years, liposuction is now one of the easiest, safer, and less painful cosmetic procedures that a person can undergo. That is not to say that a person will not feel any discomfort, however, you must remember that liposuction, after all, is still surgery. Liposuction is designated as an outpatient procedure. This means that the procedure will be done in a fully equipped doctor’s office, surgical center, or sometimes hospital. However, due to the fact that it is outpatient surgery, liposuction does not require an overnight hospital stay. The procedure will be performed then you will be moved to a recovery area and after a few hours you will be cleared to go home.
There are many techniques associated with liposuction surgery depending on the area of your body that you are having the surgery performed on. Typically, if liposuction is being performed on a smaller area of your body, only a local anesthetic will be required with a small incision made to the area. If you are having liposuction on a larger part of your body, then you may require general anesthesia. Depending on your surgery, there are a variety of options that may be used. The most common is for a small incision to be made at the site and a small tube inserted to suck out and remove the fat. Other options include using low-energy waves to liquefy fat before it is removed while there is yet another option to use ultrasound to liquefy the fat before it is removed. The technique that is used will all depend on what part of your body is having the surgery and the option that the doctor feels is best for you.
