BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY

What You Should Consider Before Having Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast augmentation surgery is easily one of the most popular surgeries among women today. In fact, in 2014 it was the most requested surgical procedure among women. Undergoing breast augmentation will easily give a woman a sense of confidence that they never had before and make them feel stronger in their physical appearance. Before having breast augmentation surgery, however, there are several factors that a woman should consider.

First and foremost, there is a certain percentage of women that will need another breast surgery after approximately 10 years. There are many variables. For example, your implant could begin to leak or the scar tissue around the implant could begin to greatly harden to the point where the shape of the breast changes. Additionally, if you get pregnant or undergo a dramatic weight loss during that time, this could also impact the shape of the breast. Other factors also include the cup size that you are looking to move up to. You will not be able to go from an A cup to a DD cup in one procedure. You will need to give your skin and your body time to adjust and stretch to fit the new changes you are putting it through. Also, it is important to remember that the feel of your breasts may feel different to the touch. Breast augmentation may take away from the natural feel of your breasts therefore making it more noticeable that you have had breast augmentation surgery.

Another thing to keep in mind is the ultimate cost, downtime and long term considerations of breast augmentation surgery. The cost of every breast augmentation surgery will be different depending on your doctor and any special consideration that come into play. Typically, the entire fee will have to be paid out of pocket as most insurances will not opt to cover elective surgery. Also, there will be a certain amount of downtime associated with your surgery. Normally, you will have a recovery that lasts between 5-7 days during which time you will need the help of someone else as lifting and straining will be off limits. A patient must also consider the long term consequences of breast augmentation, as well. For example, if you have not had children yet or you are planning on having more children, it is important to note that breast augmentation surgery can greatly affect your chances of being able to breast feed your child. If that is something that is extremely important to you, it may be advisable to hold off on breast surgery until after you are done having children.
